Leptoptilos robustus |
Leptoptilos robustus is an extinct species of stork from the Flores island chain in Indonesia. It was 1.8 metres (5.9 ft) tall and weighed an estimated 16 kilograms (35 lb). Since the bones in the legs and body are very heavy, it is assumed that it rarely, if ever, flew.
